Abstract: Overflow dam is one of hydraulic structures widely used in the water conservancy projects. The surface structure of overflow dam and the open mode of sluice gate have huge influence to the flood flow. The Navier-Stokes equation was used as the turbulence control equation. The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method was used to simulate the 3D flood flow. The shape of water flow and the distribution of pressure and the distribution of flow velocity were respectively analyzed in the case of different gate opening state. The experimental results show that the virtual simulation of overflow dam is the same as the real situation. It is feasible to carry out design of overflow dam with the simulation model.
