Two Complementary Methods for Studying Complex Social Systems: Simulation and Game Theory

摘要: 科学计算是继科学实验、理论推导之后的认识世界的第三种范式。建模与仿真方法是科学计算的一种主要方法,其重心在于对研究对象的合理建模。博弈论是对多智能个体智能交互情形建模的建模范式,可为复杂系统的仿真研究提供精准的个体交互模型。探讨了博弈模型在作战仿真、社会系统仿真中的应用情况,指出了当前博弈模型在这些仿真系统中应用的瓶颈及下一步研究方向。同时探讨了仿真方法在获取复杂的博弈模型的模型输入,推演博弈演化结果两个方面的应用。

Abstract: Alongside with scientific experiments and theoretic research, scientific computation is the third paradigm for studying our world. Modelling and simulation method is a main technique of scientific computation, focusing on resulting in a suitable model for the research subject. Game theory is a natural choice for modelling intelligent interactions among multiple decision makers, which can provide accurate interaction model for the simulation of complex systems. This paper investigates the application of game theory in military operation simulation and social system simulation. Bottlenecks of the use of game theory in these simulations are pointed out and some future research directions are proposed. Meanwhile, the applications of simulation method in obtaining model inputs of complex game theoretic model and deducing game evolution results are discussed.
